Namor's Burning Men - but you knew that.

And yes I traded that fat "Billy-bag-of-donuts" Prince Fielder for a pitcher.

The dude has his own personal planetary gravitational field and the only thing he uses his bat for is to threaten grocery clerks who don't leave the box of Krispy Kremes out so he can eat them on the way home.

well as much as i hate to admit - those of us who collect the music ( and actually like the music more than the fashion heirarcy of the trust fund suburban hippy poser ) I have to say fit the criteria - we catalog, compare, COLLECT, yep pretty much fits the criteria. DAMN! Well at least I don't have any convention type outfits.

Heard this song on KPIG today driving back from just outside Salinas and thought how great. Made me think you might be on to something.

I'm a Nerd b/c the best news I've heard in months is that a 21 year old kid will stay in school for his senior year and I have to start thinking about back to back, chicken shack....KYLE SINGLER!

Hey 'Cuse fan, we have Boeheim as an ass't on the Olympic team to thank, profusely, for getting K to understand that from time to time it's ok to mix it up with a zone.

Don't know if you're still basking in the glow, or have switched over to the NBA, but my Lakers really have me worried...no bench this season (???), Bynum's still inconsistent, Artest's D's fine, but 2 of 11 3's??!, and the lack of execution to take advantage of Pau/AByn in the paint is just frustrating as all get out!

I still think their 5 + 1 players (ie, again, no bench!), when "on", can handle anyone, even Cavs, BUT that's not how the games are played (ie, ideally). It may be struggle to get "your" match up (Lakers vs Cavs) in the Finals.

now basking in glow of Kyle Singler staying at Duke for senior season - we should be pretty damn good. Here comes Kyrie Irving and Seth Curry's little bro and Dell's youngest son (whom many in the know deem the better baller - hard to believe after the rookie GS year).

All I can say about NBA for the next month is - what's up with Grant Hill? Didn't the guy almost die? I was baseline in Minn. in 92 for his baseline move reverse slam as we sent the Fab Five packing for our back-to-back and now he's tearing it up in the 1st half of a 2010 NBA playoff game? Hard to believe.

Isn't he something? But, then completely off--just disappears!--the next night...Nash, too for that matter--ie, doing this at his age--though he is defn more consistent, he sometimes resorts to having to do it all. Amare' is the prob: all talk, no D, and no rebounding (well, okay, sometimes he can be a force, but they need the other two, D & bds). And the guys they added are more 3 shooters with a bit of hussle, but no "punch em in the mouth, play in the paint" sorts as Chuckster would opine.

Suns will fall as usual, for the same old reasons...too bad. Should kept JJohns/Marion/et al if we were gonna stick to run and gun, no D (whole Shaq/Coach Porter thing just discombulated us completely).

That Durant is something though, eh?

WOW! That's some deep stuff BD. That's one I'll have to read a few times more.Reminds me one time playing this song for my kids one day when they were even more young. I just about had tears welling up and what a let down they didn't get it. Oh well.

Forever Young - Bob Dylan

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

Hey J--I just had to mention that what you did (jumping the gun--taking a post one way other than the intended) is soooo "me"...I have done that here so many times, completely going off on a tangent only to find out how wrong my "read" had been. I think I've caught about 50 of em over the yrs, deleting before many saw them. Glad to see someone else make the blunder.

Hope things are warming up for ya up there...

Interesting self-reflective moment. Of course he was talking about the Fantasy Baseball League that is associated with this forum. It's called Deadheads are Nerds and I think he just wanted to know who was managing which teams.

Man and I thought I was a nerd......

Indeed it was. I have no doubt that John will take my comment in the way it was intended.

I actually agree with him about the collecting thing. I have wondered which is the chicken and which the egg. Are people who are predisposed to that kind of behavior the ones who end up at places like this or is it the desire to experience the dynamics of live music that drives the need to own 400 versions of China>Rider? In the end both are pretty nerdy.

As for Pujols, if he doesn't start hitting some big flies this week you are going to kill me.

Just thought I'd chime in here to self reveal (though we have covered this a time or two over the years): I defn fit the DEAD HEAD as nerd stereotype 110%...when folks do a double take at my CD stand "rack of chronological DEAD" neatly labeled, prominently displayed (well, where I can get to it easily anyhow--the wife wonders why it has to be in the middle of the living room), and then see that I carefully reshelve any they remove and mindlessly return to the rack, they realize just how much of a geek they're dealing with (I actually feel "geek" fits a bit better; hipper too, if that's possible, I think...).

Well, seeing as how the next closest group of rabid fans who also delight in endless discussion and debate of obscure details and trivial minutiae is to be found at a Star Trek convention, YES.
